Head 2s Teacher
Job Description
About This Role
Saint John Preschool is a warm, play-based early childhood program that nurtures curiosity, kindness, and the social-emotional growth of every child within a caring and supportive community.
We are seeking an enthusiastic, nurturing, and creative educator who truly enjoys working with two-year-olds and recognizes the incredible potential of this age. The ideal candidate understands that toddlers are capable, curious learners who thrive when given opportunities to explore, discover, and develop independence through meaningful play.
We are looking for someone who brings energy and joy to the classroom—someone who loves to sing, read stories with expression, be silly, get down on the children's level, and create a warm, engaging environment where every child feels safe, valued, and excited to learn.
This teacher will play a key role in continuing to strengthen and shape our Twos program by creating developmentally appropriate experiences that both support and gently challenge young learners. We are seeking an educator who has a strong understanding of early childhood classroom design and can thoughtfully organize learning centers to maximize children's engagement, independence, and exploration within our unique classroom space. Creativity, flexibility, and an eye for designing an inviting, purposeful environment are essential.
The ideal candidate is passionate about early childhood education, values play-based learning, enjoys collaborating with colleagues, and is committed to creating a joyful, nurturing classroom where young children feel safe, supported, and inspired to learn.
The schedule for this position is Monday through Wednesday 8:45 - 12:15. The following school year, this position will go to five days per week.
There is also the opportunity to add 2–4 afternoons per week (12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.) to the position. Afternoon responsibilities may include assisting with our Lunch Bunch program as needed and/or serving as an assistant teacher during our Pre-K extended-day program, based on the needs of the preschool.
