A well-established national law firm is seeking a Patent Agent to join its growing Intellectual Property practice. This position offers a broader mix of work than a traditional prosecution-only role, including patent preparation and prosecution, portfolio strategy, technical analysis, and support for patent litigation and other contested IP matters.

Role and Responsibilities- Draft and prosecute U.S. patent applications involving complex electrical, computer and software technologies
- Conduct invention disclosure meetings and work directly with inventors and clients
- Prepare responses to USPTO Office Actions
- Assist with domestic and international patent portfolio strategy
- Analyze patents, prior art and technical materials
- Support patent litigation matters, including technical research, claim analysis, validity and infringement issues
- Collaborate with experienced patent prosecution and litigation attorneys
- Provide clear, practical guidance regarding patentability and prosecution strategy
Candidates should have experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Telecommunications and wireless technologies
- Signal processing
- Electronic circuit design
- Computer engineering
- Software and computer-implemented technologies
- Related electrical and computer technologies
The Patent Agent will receive meaningful responsibility and the opportunity to work closely with experienced IP attorneys across multiple offices. The firm provides formal professional-development programs, mentoring and exposure to both patent prosecution and litigation matters.
- Base salary of $140,000–$180,000
- Compensation will vary based on experience, technical background, qualifications, location, and other job-related factors

Requirements
- 3-5 Years of prep and pros experience in EE/CS matters
- Advanced technical degree preferred
- Strong patent drafting and prosecution experience
- Excellent academic credentials
- Outstanding writing, analytical and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively with attorneys, inventors and sophisticated technology clients
- Interest in handling a combination of patent prosecution and patent litigation support
