About the Role
ShareSTAFF is hiring Provide Psychiatric Care in NYC's Correctional Health Systems for contract assignments at a Corrections in New York, New York. This locum Psychiatrist opportunity provides direct psychiatric care to individuals in custody within New York City's correctional health system, working alongside a multidisciplinary jail-based mental health team. The role may include general psychiatric evaluation and treatment, forensic/competency evaluation support, and reentry-focused care planning. Shift schedule, FTE, and specific coverage dates are still being finalized with the client and will be confirmed before placement. This is a high-acuity, high-impact setting serving an underserved patient population within one of the country's largest jail systems.

What You Bring - Required
- Board certified or board eligible in Psychiatry
- Active, unrestricted New York medical license (New York is not an IMLC state, so licensure-in-process timelines should be planned accordingly)
- Active DEA registration
- Clean background check (correctional facility access typically requires additional security clearance — confirm specific requirements)
- MD/DO, completed ACGME-accredited Psychiatry residency
- Comfort working in a secure/correctional clinical environment
- Experience managing high-acuity psychiatric presentations
What You Bring - Preferred
- Prior correctional, forensic, or inpatient psychiatry experience
- Experience with competency evaluations
- Prior locum tenens experience
- Comfort working within a public-sector, multidisciplinary care team
