Position Summary:

The Quality Manager is responsible for overseeing the organization’s quality assurance system, regulatory compliance, safety management system (SMS), and inspection functions within an FAA/EASA-certified aviation repair station. This role ensures all maintenance and repair activities meet regulatory requirements, internal standards, and customer expectations while fostering a culture of safety, compliance, and continuous improvement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain the Repair Station Quality Control Manual (QCM) and associated procedures
  • Ensure compliance with FAA Part 145, EASA, and other applicable regulatory requirements
  • Lead internal and external audits, including regulatory and customer audits
  • Manage corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) and root cause analysis processes
  • Administer and continuously improve the Safety Management System (SMS)
  • Promote a strong safety culture across all departments(support and drive audits, safety improvements, and documentation)
  • Conduct risk assessments, hazard identification, and mitigation activities
  • Lead safety investigations and ensure proper reporting of incidents/occurrences
  • Ensure all articles meet airworthiness standards prior to return to service
  • Review and approve maintenance, repair, and overhaul documentation
  • Maintain authority for airworthiness release (FAA Form 8130-3 / EASA Form 1)
  • Ensure proper execution of receiving, in-process, and final inspections
  • Act as primary liaison with FAA, EASA,OSHA and other regulatory authorities
  • Maintain readiness for audits and inspections at all times
  • Has authority over all repair station operations that are conducted under FAR 145, shall be familiar with all applicable FAR’s and the RSM/QCM, and ensures that all repair station personnel follow these regulations.
  • Monitors and maintains the personnel roster.
  • Monitors and maintains certificates issued to repairmen under Part 65.
  • Controls the issuance and monitoring of technician and inspector stamps.
  • Administers the test equipment calibration program and maintains all related data.
  • Controls and monitors the status of leased tools and equipment.
  • Recommends individuals for Repairman’s Certificates as appropriate and required.
  • Reports on Malfunctions and Defects per section 3.2.
  • Reviews and actions deficiencies or significant maintenance errors per 3.13.
  • Performs self-evaluations for review by the Repair Station Manager for additions to the Capability List.
  • Maintains the Capability List.
  • Ensures conformity to FAR’s for all approvals for return to service performed by repair station personnel with such rating.
  • Other duties as assigned

Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aviation, Engineering, Quality, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 7–10+ years of experience in an FAA Part 145 repair station or aviation MRO environment
  • 3–5+ years in a leadership role within Quality, Safety, or Inspection
  • In-depth knowledge of FAA regulations (Part 145, Part 43, Part 21) and/or EASA regulations
  • Ability to read and interpret technical data, manuals, and engineering drawings
