Position Details:
  • Title: Special Education Teacher
  • Location: Manor, TX
  • Duration: October 8, 2026 – May 28, 2027
  • Onsite/Virtual: Onsite
  • Position Type: Contract
  • Working Hours: 37.5 hours/week, from Monday to Friday
  • Student Age Group: Elementary/Middle
  • Case Load: Approximately 8 students (3 primarily self-contained, 5 receiving inclusion support).
Responsibilities:
  • Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with IDEA and Texas special education regulations.
  • Deliver individualized instruction to students with autism in both self-contained and inclusive classroom environments.
  • Modify curriculum, instructional materials, and assessments to meet each student's unique learning needs.
  • Foster student growth in academic achievement, communication, social-emotional development, and functional and daily living skills.
  • Implement Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) and evidence-based positive behavior supports.
  • Monitor student progress, collect data, and prepare required documentation.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, related service providers (SLP, OT, PT), school psychologists, diagnosticians, and families.
  • Participate in Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) meetings.
  • Maintain accurate documentation while ensuring compliance with district, state, and federal requirements.
  • Create a structured, safe, and supportive learning environment that encourages student independence and success.
  • Attend professional development, staff meetings, and required district trainings.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field.
  • Valid Texas Special Education Teaching Certification.
  • Knowledge of IDEA, IEP development, and Texas special education regulations.
  • Strong classroom management and instructional skills.
  • Previous experience working with students with autism or in a special education classroom is preferred.
  • Experience implementing behavior intervention strategies is preferred.
  • ESL or Bilingual certification is a plus.
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and organizational skills.
