Deli Associate

Position Summary:

The Deli Associate is responsible for providing excellent customer service while preparing, packaging, and stocking deli products. This role ensures food safety compliance, maintains a clean and organized work area, and supports the deli team in meeting production and sales goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Customer Service:
  • Greet customers promptly and courteously.
  • Assist with product selection and answer questions about ingredients, preparation, and specials.
• Food Preparation & Handling:
  • Prepare sandwiches, salads, and hot deli items according to company recipes and standards.
  • Slice meats and cheeses using proper safety techniques.
  • Follow portion control guidelines to minimize waste.
• Safety & Compliance:
  • Adhere to all food safety and sanitation regulations, including proper handwashing and glove use.
  • Monitor product temperatures and maintain logs as required.
• Stocking & Merchandising:
  • Rotate stock to ensure freshness and reduce shrink.
  • Maintain attractive displays and signage for deli products.
• Cleaning & Maintenance:
  • Keep workstations, equipment, and floors clean and sanitized throughout the shift.
  • Assist with closing duties, including cleaning slicers, counters, and fryers.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous deli or food service experience is a plus.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods.

Work Environment:

• Fast-paced convenience store setting.
• Interaction with customers, deli staff, and store management.
• Exposure to food prep and refrigerated areas.
