Full-Time

Monday-Friday 9:00AM-4:30PM and every other weekend 9:30AM-3:30PM

Position Summary

The Therapeutic Recreation Aide supports the Therapeutic Recreation Director by delivering meaningful daily programming that aligns with each resident's individualized plan of care and enhances their overall quality of life.

In this role, you will facilitate engaging group and one-on-one activities tailored to residents' interests, abilities, and physical, emotional, and psychosocial needs. You will encourage resident participation, build positive relationships with residents and families, and help create meaningful experiences each day.

Responsibilities include maintaining activity calendars, adapting programming based on resident needs and census changes, transporting and assisting residents during activities and outings, supporting volunteers, and documenting resident participation and progress. The Therapeutic Recreation Aide also contributes to care coordination while maintaining compliance with resident rights, HIPAA, infection control, safety standards, and Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) requirements.

What You'll Do

  • Plan, prepare, and facilitate daily therapeutic activities and programs.

  • Encourage active participation and adapt activities to meet individual resident needs and abilities.

  • Provide one-on-one visits with residents who may not participate in group activities.

  • Build meaningful, professional, and caring relationships with residents and families.

  • Assist with developing new and creative programming ideas.

  • Maintain and update activity calendars and schedules.

  • Stay informed of resident and census changes that may impact programming.

  • Transport and assist residents during in-facility activities and community outings.

  • Assist with special events, holiday celebrations, and facility decorations.

  • Support volunteers to ensure programming is meaningful and productive.

  • Maintain accurate documentation of resident participation and interests.

  • Understand and support individual resident goals and care plans.

  • Participate in care conferences as requested.

  • Maintain strict confidentiality and follow HIPAA requirements.

  • Follow infection prevention, safety, cleaning, and equipment procedures.

  • Immediately report resident injuries or Vulnerable Adult incidents to appropriate leadership.

Qualifications

Passion for Senior Care

Demonstrates a genuine desire to work with seniors and individuals with illnesses or disabilities while advocating for their well-being and quality of life.

Relationship Building

Strong ability to connect with residents, families, and team members through empathy, compassion, active listening, and effective communication.

Preferred Experience

Previous experience in healthcare, skilled nursing, assisted living, recreation, activities, or a related setting is preferred but not required.
