Position Summary

The Program Support & Transportation Assistant provides essential operational and logistical support to after-school and community programs. This role is responsible for safely transporting students, assisting with participant support needs, handling donations, and supporting general facility upkeep to ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, families, and staff.

This position requires reliability, professionalism, and a strong commitment to working with children and families in a community-based setting.

Key Responsibilities

Student Transportation

  • Safely operate a program bus or van to transport students from school to the program site and from the program site to designated drop-off locations
  • Follow established transportation routes, schedules, and safety procedures
  • Conduct daily vehicle checks and report any maintenance or safety concerns promptly
  • Ensure student accountability during pick-up and drop-off (attendance, head counts, supervision)

Program & Participant Support

  • Assist staff with supervision and general support of students during program hours as needed
  • Support participants with basic needs in coordination with program staff
  • Help set up and break down program spaces and activities

Donations & Supplies

  • Assist with receiving, unloading, organizing, and storing donated items and supplies
  • Support distribution of donations to participants or programs as directed by staff
  • Maintain organization of storage areas

Facilities & General Support

  • Assist with routine cleaning tasks, including trash removal, light cleaning, and maintaining common areas
  • Support facility readiness before and after program hours and events
  • Assist with special projects or events as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to safely operate a bus or large passenger vehicle (training provided if applicable)
  • Ability to pass background checks and any required clearances for working with children
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to follow schedules and procedures
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and perform light physical tasks
  • Strong sense of responsibility and professionalism

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with children or youth in an after-school, childcare, or community setting
  • Experience driving buses, vans, or large vehicles
  • Familiarity with community-based or nonprofit environments

Schedule

Afternoons (school dismissal through early evening), with occasional additional hours as needed for events or program support
