We are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Pharmacy Technician to support pharmacists in delivering safe, accurate, and efficient pharmacy services. The Pharmacy Technician assists with prescription processing, medication preparation, inventory management, and customer service while ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Receive and process new and refill prescription requests.
  • Enter prescription information accurately into the pharmacy system.
  • Prepare, label, package, and dispense medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
  • Assist customers by answering questions, processing transactions, and directing clinical inquiries to the pharmacist.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and protect confidential health information (HIPAA).
  • Monitor medication inventory, stock shelves, rotate inventory, and remove expired medications.
  • Process insurance claims and resolve billing issues when appropriate.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant pharmacy work environment.
  • Support medication reconciliation and documentation as required.
  • Follow all federal, state, and company policies regarding medication handling and controlled substances.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Active West Virginia Pharmacy Technician Registration or eligibility to obtain registration.
  • National Pharmacy Technician Certification (PTCB or ExCPT) preferred.
  • Previous retail, hospital, or correctional pharmacy experience preferred.
  • Basic computer and data entry skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and customer service abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a healthcare team.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with pharmacy management software.
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical terminology and dosage calculations.
  • Insurance claim processing experience.
  • Inventory management experience.
  • CPR certification (preferred for some healthcare settings).

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Frequently lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity to prepare medications and operate pharmacy equipment.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
