Inventory Specialist

Position Summary: The Inventory Specialist is a critical role responsible for managing and optimizing the company's inventory control systems, ensuring accurate stock levels, and maintaining efficient supply chain operations. This position plays a key role in supporting logistics and manufacturing processes through meticulous inventory management and data analysis.

Role Responsibilities: The Inventory Specialist will be responsible for the following duties, including but not limited to:

  1. Inventory Control and Management
  2. Develop, implement, and continuously improve inventory control systems and best practices
  3. Conduct regular cycle counts and physical inventory audits
  4. Manage and reconcile inventory discrepancies
  5. Maintain accurate and up-to-date inventory records in the company's management system
  6. Supply Chain and Data Analysis
  7. Analyze supply chain data to identify trends, potential issues, and optimization opportunities
  8. Generate comprehensive inventory reports for management
  9. Monitor stock levels and recommend appropriate reorder points
  10. Investigate and resolve inventory-related discrepancies
  11. Collaborate with procurement team to ensure optimal stock levels
  12. Communication and Coordination
  13. Maintain high-level communication between warehouse coordinators, manufacturing coordinators, and customers
  14. Coordinate with multiple departments to ensure smooth inventory flow
  15. Provide timely updates and reports to supervisors and management
  16. Respond to internal and external inquiries related to inventory status
  17. Materials Management
  18. Process and record materials receiving
  19. Verify incoming shipments for accuracy and quality
  20. Manage and track inventory transfers between locations
  21. Ensure proper storage and handling of inventory items
  22. System and Documentation
  23. Maintain and update inventory management software and databases
  24. Develop and maintain detailed documentation of inventory processes
  25. Implement and follow company inventory policies and procedures
  26. Support continuous improvement initiatives in inventory management

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent required

Experience / Skills / Abilities:

  • 2-3 years of experience in inventory management or related field
  • Proficiency in inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to follow detailed written and verbal work instructions in English
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Working knowledge of company policies and procedures
  • Proven understanding of inventory management practices and cycle counting
  • Advanced analytical and logistical thinking abilities
  • Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills
  • Strong time management and organizational skills

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in inventory management software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics)
  • Experience with barcode scanning and RFID technologies
  • Understanding of ERP systems
  • Basic data analysis and reporting skills

Job Expectations / Working Conditions: Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly required to remain in a stationary position for prolonged periods
  • Occasionally required to descend/ascend stairs
  • Occasionally required to walk the plant area
  • May require bending, reaching, squatting, pulling, and pushing
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally

Work Environment:

  • Combination of office and warehouse/plant settings
  • Potential exposure to various temperatures and warehouse conditions
  • May require wearing personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Regular computer and database work

Additional Information:

  • Travel: Minimal (less than 5%)
  • Weekend or overtime work may be required occasionally
