Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in the ICU for adult and geriatric patients, including ongoing assessment, planning, and implementation of evidence-based care.
- Monitor complex patient conditions, interpret hemodynamic data, adjust care plans, and respond to deteriorations or emergencies promptly.
- Administer medications and IV therapies, including vasoactive infusions and sedation, while monitoring for adverse effects and interactions.
- Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other multidisciplinary team members; participate in rounds and communicate changes to families as appropriate.
- Perform ICU procedures within scope, assist with ventilator support, and ensure rapid response to codes while maintaining patient safety and comfort.
- Document accurately in the electronic medical record; adhere to infection control, safety, and HIPAA guidelines; apply age-specific considerations for adult and geriatric patients.

Requirements
- Active NYS RN license (current registered professional nurse in New York State)
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS required through the RQI system during clinical orientation; NIHSS certification; Basic Coronary Care certification within 6 months of hire; CPI certification within 90 days of hire
- Preferred certifications: ENA certification within 2 years of hire; TNCC recommended within 2 years
- Education: Graduate of an approved nursing program with RN licensure
- Experience: ICU or critical care experience preferred; demonstrated ability to work in a high-acuity environment
- Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal abilities; competence with electronic medical records; ability to care for adults and geriatric patients and to adapt to age-specific needs
