Job Summary:
Our client is seeking an experienced Calibration Technician – Process Instrumentation to support calibration, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair activities within a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment. This role will work closely with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, suppliers, and third-party contractors to ensure process instrumentation and equipment remain accurate, reliable, and compliant.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience calibrating process instruments, performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting equipment, and working within GMP-regulated environments. Strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and communication skills are critical for success in this role.
Must Have Skills:
- 2+ years of Metrology or Calibration experience
- Experience calibrating process instrumentation
- Pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, or other GMP manufacturing experience
- Experience performing preventative maintenance (PMs)
- Experience troubleshooting and repairing process equipment
- Autoclave maintenance and repair experience required
- Knowledge of calibration practices, measurement systems, and instrumentation
- Ability to interpret technical schematics, specifications, and calibration procedures
- Strong documentation skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Job Duties:
- Perform calibrations on process instrumentation and measurement equipment
- Calibrate instruments that measure: Pressure, Temperature, Flow, Time, Force, Torque, Speed, Electrical current/voltage/resistance, pH level, and conductivity.
- Execute scheduled preventative maintenance activities
- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain process equipment and instrumentation
- Maintain calibration and maintenance documentation in accordance with quality requirements
- Prepare calibration reports including: Calibration methods, Measurement data, Measurement uncertainties, Test Uncertainty Ratios (TURs), NIST traceability
- Identify sources of measurement error and determine measurement reliability
- Support manufacturing operations and compliance requirements
- Assist with technical questions related to measurements, calibration, and NIST traceability
- Communicate with internal customers to resolve technical issues or questions
- Interface with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, suppliers, and third-party contractors
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Minimum 2 years of calibration or metrology experience
- Practical knowledge of metrology principles and measurement practices
- Experience working in pharmaceutical, medical device, or other regulated manufacturing environments
- Knowledge of GMP requirements and documentation practices
- Experience working with quality systems and standards including ISO 17025 and ANSI/Z540-1 preferred
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify sources of measurement error
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents, schematics, specifications, and procedures
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
