DIRECTOR, PAYMENTS PRACTICE


A Typical Week May Look Like This…

  • Monitor payments, fraud, regulatory, and technology trends impacting finance professionals.
  • Develop and update payments-related content, training programs, webinars, articles, and educational resources.
  • Collaborate with corporate practitioners, bankers, regulators, vendors, and volunteer leaders to identify industry needs and emerging topics.
  • Partner with internal teams to enhance AFP's membership, training, credentialing, and event offerings.
  • Support marketing and sales efforts by providing subject matter expertise, identifying sponsorship opportunities, and helping drive program growth.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key industry stakeholders and thought leaders.
  • Represent AFP at industry events, conferences, and meetings with organizations such as the Federal Reserve, Treasury Department, and NACHA.
  • Evaluate program performance, member feedback, and market trends to recommend improvements and support revenue and customer growth.
  • Manage program budgets and contribute to strategic initiatives that strengthen AFP's position as a leading authority in payments.

  • Deep knowledge of commercial payments, treasury operations, fraud prevention, compliance, and emerging payment technologies.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to simplify complex topics for diverse audiences.
  • Proven ability to build relationships, influence stakeholders, and represent an organization with industry leaders and executive audiences.
  • Strategic mindset with a passion for identifying trends, solving industry challenges, and creating valuable programs and resources.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Accounting, Communications, or a related field; advanced degree or payments/treasury certifications preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in payments, treasury, banking, financial services, corporate finance, or association program development.
  • Must be able to work East Coast hours
