Housekeeping Supervisor
Reports to: Executive Housekeeper / General Manager
Position SummaryThe Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the housekeeping team and ensuring that guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces are maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness, presentation, and sanitation. This position provides hands-on leadership, supports staff development, coordinates daily assignments and schedules, and ensures that housekeeping standards and safety procedures are consistently followed.
Responsibilities- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the housekeeping team.
- Train, coach, and motivate housekeeping staff on cleaning procedures, maintenance tasks, guest service, and hotel standards.
- Inspect guest rooms, public areas, stairways, lounges, and other assigned areas to ensure cleanliness, organization, and proper presentation.
- Assign daily work and schedules while arranging appropriate coverage for absences and operational needs.
- Establish, communicate, and enforce housekeeping standards for cleanliness, tidiness, hygiene, and overall guest presentation.
- Monitor employee performance and provide coaching and feedback as needed.
- Address employee concerns and resolve day-to-day operational issues professionally and promptly.
- Respond to guest requests, concerns, and complaints related to housekeeping services and ensure appropriate follow-up.
- Monitor housekeeping inventory and ensure adequate supplies of cleaning products, chemicals, linens, and other necessary materials.
- Maintain proper organization and storage of housekeeping supplies and equipment.
- Participate in deep-cleaning projects, special projects, and other housekeeping duties as required.
- Ensure all housekeeping activities comply with hotel policies, safety procedures, sanitation requirements, and applicable regulations.
- Report maintenance issues, room deficiencies, safety concerns, and other property conditions to the appropriate department.
- Work closely with the Executive Housekeeper, Front Office, Maintenance/Engineering, and other departments to support efficient hotel operations.
- Promote a professional, respectful, and team-oriented work environment.
- Previous experience as a Housekeeping Supervisor, Lead Housekeeper, or in a similar supervisory role.
- Hands-on experience with housekeeping, cleaning, and maintenance procedures, preferably in a hotel, resort, healthcare, or other large-scale environment.
- Knowledge of commercial and industrial cleaning equipment, products, and chemicals.
- Strong organizational, communication, and team-management skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and effectively manage multiple operational needs.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and quality standards.
- Ability to train, coach, motivate, and hold team members accountable.
- Professional and customer-service-oriented approach when interacting with guests and employees.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Physical stamina to perform the duties required of the position, including standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
