Somafina is a growing, thriving co-manufacturer of vitamins and supplements with two locations in Layton and Lindon, UT.
Essential ResponsibilitiesTeam Oversight
- Ensure all personnel, full-time or temporary, complete required training before working in the area.
- Ensure employees follow quality, safety, and other work standards and policies; empowered to initiate and implement disciplinary action when necessary.
- Ensure smooth, efficient shift transitions.
- Ensure Encapsulation Technicians follow machine and operator work order assignments.
- Monitor the process to confirm it meets expectations for quality, machine control, and work efficiency.
- Ensure time standards are met for room cleaning, machine assembly, and product processing.
- Complete and distribute written reports as needed, in a timely manner.
Product & Materials Handling
- Ensure incoming product is organized, accessible, free of contamination, and clearly identified.
- Supply operators with materials as needed, including but not limited to:
- Powder barrels
- Empty barrels lined with clean plastic bags
- Capsules
- Plastic bags
- Tools and other items as needed
- Promptly remove finished capsule barrels from the encapsulating rooms as they come out, and:
- Weigh
- Log
- Label
- Keep separate from other product
- Ensure team members have needed supplies, including but not limited to:
- Gloves
- Shoe covers
- Masks
- Zip ties
- Scale trays, etc.
Technician Support
- Ensure Technicians assist operators with machine set-up by providing clean parts or other needed items.
- Ensure Technicians assist operators with room cleanup and sanitation as needed.
- Check finished product against the work order to confirm accuracy, and report any errors to the supervisor.
- Contribute to department team incentive goals, which are based on productivity (quantity and quality of work) and process accuracy.
- Support and participate in company, department, and safety policies, procedures, programs, and activities.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
- High school diploma or GED; or 1–3 months of related experience/training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Able to read, write, and understand simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English; good verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals, in all units of measure.
- Basic computer skills for entering data into a database.
- Able to apply common sense to carry out detailed (but not complex) written or verbal instructions, and to solve problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Must obtain and maintain a current food handler's permit.
- English proficiency required.
- Regularly required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and converse and listen.
- Must be able to exert up to 90 lbs. of force occasionally, up to 40 lbs. frequently, and up to 20 lbs. constantly to move objects.
