POSITION SUMMARY:

The Chief Human Resources & Administrative Officer (CHRAO) is a senior executive leader responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive people, culture, governance, risk, and administrative strategy that advances the mission, vision, and strategic priorities of the YMCA of Metuchen, Edison, Woodbridge & South Amboy (MEWSA).

Serving as a member of the Executive Leadership Team, the CHRAO provides strategic oversight of human resources, talent acquisition, compensation and benefits, leadership development, employee relations, organizational culture, legal affairs, compliance, risk management, and shared administrative services. The position partners closely with the CEO, COO, senior leaders, and Board of Directors to ensure that the YMCA is positioned for long-term sustainability, organizational excellence, workforce effectiveness, and future growth.

The CHRAO is responsible for creating an environment where employees thrive, leaders grow, risks are effectively managed, and organizational systems support innovation, collaboration, and mission impact across both associations.

The Chief Human Resources & Administrative Officer plays a critical role in building the people, culture, systems, and organizational capacity necessary for the YMCA association to achieve its missions, strengthen their communities, and position themselves for long-term growth and impact.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field - (Master;'s degree preferred. SHRM-SCP, SPHR, JD highly recommended.)

• Minimum of ten years of progressively responsible leadership experience in human resources, organizational development, administration, legal compliance, risk management, or related functions.

• Demonstrated experience leading organizational change and strategic workforce initiatives.

• Strong knowledge of NJ employment law, compensation practices, employee relations, organizational development, and risk management.

• Experience supporting executive leaders and governing boards.

• Experience in nonprofit, YMCA, healthcare, education, government, or mission-driven organizations.

• Experience overseeing shared services or multi-location operations.
