About the Role:

The Hospitalist Part Time Nights Swing Blend position is a critical role focused on providing comprehensive inpatient care during evening and night shifts. The primary objective is to manage and coordinate the treatment of hospitalized patients, ensuring high-quality, timely, and efficient medical care. This role requires collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes and facilitate smooth transitions of care. The hospitalist will be responsible for making clinical decisions, performing procedures, and communicating effectively with patients, families, and healthcare providers. Ultimately, this position supports the hospital’s mission to deliver exceptional healthcare services while maintaining patient safety and satisfaction during off-peak hours.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution.
  • Board certification or eligibility in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.
  • Valid and unrestricted medical license to practice in the United States.
  • Completion of an accredited residency program in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.
  • Demonstrated experience or training in inpatient hospital medicine.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Board certification in Hospital Medicine.
  • Experience working night or swing shifts in a hospital setting.
  • Fellowship training or additional certifications in hospital medicine or related subspecialties.
  • Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner.
  • Strong background in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct inpatient care to adult patients admitted to the hospital during night and swing shifts.
  • Perform thorough patient assessments, develop treatment plans, and adjust care based on clinical progress.
  • Coordinate with nursing staff, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care.
  • Document patient encounters, orders, and progress notes accurately and promptly in the electronic health record system.
  • Respond to medical emergencies and provide critical interventions as needed during night hours.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and adhere to hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and their families regarding diagnosis, treatment plans, and prognosis.

The required clinical skills enable the hospitalist to perform comprehensive patient evaluations, develop and implement effective treatment plans, and respond promptly to acute medical situations during night shifts. Strong communication skills are essential for collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and providing clear explanations to patients and families. Proficiency in using electronic health records ensures accurate documentation and efficient information sharing. Preferred skills such as experience with hospital medicine certifications and quality improvement initiatives enhance the ability to deliver evidence-based care and contribute to organizational goals.
