The Location: Hale Makua Kahului

Hale Makua Health Services is a Maui based non-profit that improves the well-being of those in its care through compassionate personalized health services. We are devoted to helping Maui's Elders live their best lives. Hale Makua's Kahului location is a 254-bed nursing facility.


The Position:

We're looking for a Health Information Technician / Coding Assistant who strives to provide operational excellence and genuine care in a team environment. Our Health Information Management (HIM) Department is primarily responsible for:

  • Patient health records and ensure that needed health information is complete, accurate and available to legitimate users.
  • Provides ICD-10 codes on admission and concurrently as required.
  • Prepares release of information documents, including but not limited to audit, patient and subpoena requests.
  • Conduct medical record audits.
  • Protect patient privacy, provide information security, comply with standards and regulations regarding health information and administer health information computer systems.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years of health information experience in any healthcare setting.
  • Knowledge of ICD-10 and medical terminology. Must become certified as soon as eligibility permits.
  • Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) preferred, but not required.
