Position Title: Direct Support Professional (DSP)

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides compassionate, person-centered support to individuals with intellectual, developmental, and behavioral health needs. DSPs play an essential role in helping individuals achieve greater independence, maintain their health and safety, develop life skills, and actively participate in their communities.
Working as part of a dedicated team, the DSP supports daily living activities, implements individualized service plans, administers medications, provides transportation, and promotes a safe and dignified environment that encourages personal growth and choice.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesDirect Support Services- Assist individuals with personal care and activities of daily living, including hygiene, grooming, dressing, meal preparation, housekeeping, and community participation.
- Support individuals in achieving greater independence and reaching personal goals.
- Teach and reinforce daily living, social, communication, and adaptive skills.
- Ensure services are delivered in a manner that promotes dignity, privacy, respect, and individual choice.
- Implement Individual Habilitation Plans (IHPs) and behavioral support plans.
- Provide supports and interventions consistent with individualized goals and service plans.
- Monitor progress and contribute to the achievement of identified outcomes.
- Support positive behavioral strategies and individualized programming.
- Administer medications and carry out prescribed healthcare programs in accordance with agency policies and applicable regulations.
- Observe, monitor, and report changes in individuals' health and well-being.
- Maintain a safe and secure environment for individuals served.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies and follow established safety procedures.
- Safely transport and accompany individuals to appointments, recreational activities, work sites, educational programs, and community events.
- Operate agency or personal vehicles in compliance with all motor vehicle laws and organizational policies.
- Promote meaningful participation in community activities and social engagement.
- Successfully complete all required pre-service, in-service, and ongoing training programs.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of services, activities, and incidents.
- Follow agency policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in team meetings and collaborate with supervisors and colleagues to ensure quality services.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
- Ability to complete required training and certification requirements.
- Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Human Services or a related field.
- Previous experience working with individuals with intellectual, developmental, or behavioral health needs.
