Our Assisted Living Center provides a welcoming environment where Villagers receive individualized support while maintaining independence, building meaningful relationships, and participating fully in their community. Through compassionate care and person-centered support, our team helps Villagers continue developing skills, making choices, and living meaningful and fulfilling lives.
Position Purpose
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides compassionate, person-centered direct care and support to Villagers within Annandale Village’s Assisted Living Center in accordance with individualized care plans.
The CNA works alongside Villagers to support daily living needs while helping maintain and strengthen skills that promote independence. Through encouragement, individualized assistance, and meaningful relationships, the CNA helps create a safe, comfortable, and supportive home environment where Villagers are respected as individuals and encouraged to participate as independently as possible in their daily lives.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Supporting Independence and Daily Living
- Support Villagers with activities of daily living, personal care, mobility, and other individualized needs in accordance with their care plans, abilities, preferences, and goals.
- Encourage Villagers to participate as independently as possible in personal care, household responsibilities, daily routines, and other activities.
- Provide instruction, encouragement, and appropriate assistance to help Villagers maintain and strengthen independent living skills.
- Support Villagers in maintaining comfortable, safe, and personalized living spaces and participating in household responsibilities based on their abilities.
- Assist Villagers with activities, appointments, and other meaningful experiences as assigned.
Providing Person-Centered Care and Support
- Build positive, trusting, and respectful relationships with Villagers.
- Learn and respect each Villager’s preferences, routines, communication style, abilities, and individualized support needs.
- Provide direct care in a manner that protects Villager dignity, privacy, rights, comfort, and personal choice.
- Support Villagers in developing and maintaining positive interpersonal relationships and participating in decisions that affect their daily lives.
- Recognize changes in Villager health, behavior, abilities, or overall well-being and promptly communicate concerns to the appropriate team member.
- Provide support within the CNA scope of responsibility and seek additional assistance when a Villager’s needs are outside the employee’s training or abilities.
Health, Safety, and Documentation
- Follow individualized care plans and established health, behavioral, safety, and support procedures.
- Complete required clinical, behavioral, incident, and service documentation accurately and timely.
- Follow Universal Precautions, infection prevention, safety, and emergency response practices.
- Identify and promptly report incidents, safety concerns, equipment or environmental issues, and other conditions that may affect Villager well-being.
- Participate in quality assurance activities and support compliance with applicable state licensing, regulatory, and organizational requirements.
- Maintain Villager confidentiality and protect personal and health information.
Communication and Teamwork
- Work collaboratively with Assisted Living leadership, Nursing, and other members of the interdisciplinary team to provide consistent, coordinated Villager support.
- Communicate respectfully and professionally with Villagers, families, guardians, coworkers, and other members of the Annandale community.
- Share significant observations, changes, concerns, and support needs with the appropriate team member.
- Participate in required meetings, orientation, training, educational activities, and continuing development.
- Contribute to a positive work environment centered on teamwork, accountability, compassion, and person-centered support.
Other Responsibilities
- Safely transport Villagers to appointments, activities, and other destinations as assigned.
- Maintain required certification, training, and competencies.
- Follow Annandale Village policies, procedures, safety standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Perform other duties in the best interest of Annandale Village and the Villagers we serve.
Required Qualifications
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification in good standing and compliance with all applicable federal and Georgia state certification requirements.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Must obtain Certified Medication Aide (CMA) certification within 90 days of hire.
- Ability to speak and understand English and to read, write, and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to provide safe, compassionate, and individualized direct care within the CNA scope of responsibility.
Employment Requirements
- Must meet Annandale Village age requirements.
- To operate Annandale Village vehicles or golf carts, must have a valid Georgia Class C Driver’s License with three years of driving experience, proof of vehicle insurance, and meet Annandale Village MVR requirements.
- Must pass GBI and FBI background checks, including fingerprinting.
- Must pass drug screening and tuberculosis screening.
- Must complete and maintain required CPR, First Aid, training, and certifications.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to actively provide hands-on support to Villagers throughout the assigned shift.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and perform movements associated with providing direct care.
- Ability to assist Villagers with personal care, mobility, positioning, transfers, and other individualized needs.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds independently and move up to 75 pounds with assistance.
- Ability to safely transport and assist Villagers into and out of vehicles.
- Ability to perform CPR, First Aid, and emergency response duties.
