Position Summary
The Medical Assistant assists the physician in providing high-quality patient care by preparing patients for examination, assisting with procedures, documenting medical information, performing diagnostic testing, educating patients, and maintaining efficient clinic flow.
Responsibilities
- Room patients and obtain vital signs
- Document patient history, medications, allergies, and chief complaint in the EMR
- Prepare treatment rooms and instruments
- Assist the physician during examinations and procedures
- Perform x-rays as ordered (training provided)
- Educate patients on treatment plans and home care instructions
- Clean and sterilize instruments according to OSHA standards
- Stock exam rooms and maintain inventory
- Process prescription refill requests
- Prepare lab orders and relay results
- Communicate with patients by phone and text
- Complete prior authorizations as assigned
- Assist with laser therapy, vascular testing, wound care, and other in-office procedures
- Coordinate with front office staff to maintain smooth patient flow
- Accurately document all patient care in the electronic medical record (ModMed experience is a plus)
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, NRCMA, CCMA, or equivalent) preferred
- Previous medical assistant experience preferred
- Podiatry, orthopedic, wound care, or family practice experience is a plus
- Excellent computer skills
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Reliable attendance and punctuality
