Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensures that all Company safety rules and procedures (including site-specific regulations) are being strictly adhered to by all Project Team members.
  • Performing and managing field quality control tests and production records.
  • Performing basic field surveys and construction layout.
  • Preparing drawings/sketches to support construction work.
  • Ensuring all work is in accordance with Menard’s standards. design and construction drawings.
  • Researching and resolving drawing interpretation problems, conflicts, interferences, and errors.
  • Preparing RFI’s for submission to General Contractors and Engineers.
  • Preparing project submittals for materials, work plans, means & methods statements.
  • Running small work crews when necessary.
  • Assist in identifying project risks and work with team members to mitigate impacts.
  • Assisting PMs with tracking, preparation, and negotiation of change orders and claims.
  • Assisting PMs with material and equipment buyout including negotiating with suppliers and vendors.
  • Assisting PMs with review and approval of invoices.
  • Assisting Design Engineers with preparation of designs and shop drawings, cutoff charts, log review, etc.
  • Assist Sales Engineers with takeoffs, cost estimates, and proposals for ground improvement solutions.
  • Maintaining and establishing relationships with project stakeholders and clients.
  • Developing business and searching for new opportunities and clients.
  • Mentoring and training Project Engineers.
  • Supporting the Marketing and Business Development departments by attending trade shows, conferences and other marketing events.
  • Making technical presentations to prospects and supporting educational training of Menard clientele.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Understanding of basic principles of Civil Engineering and Construction Management (Geotechnical Engineer and Heavy Civil Construction).
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong observation skills and ability to work with diligence.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organization skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Ability to quickly identify problems and efficiently solve them.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and AutoCAD.


Education and Experience Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field. 2-4 years of experience required, Construction or Geotechincal Engineering is a plus.


Certifications, Licenses, Etc.:

Required: OSAH 30

Desired: Engineer In Training (EIT), Professional Engineer (P.E.)
