Registered Nurse Supervisor

Job Summary:

The RN Supervisor oversees and coordinates nursing care on assigned shifts to ensure high-quality, person-centered care in accordance with regulatory standards, physician orders, and facility policies. This leadership role is responsible for supervising licensed nurses and certified nursing assistants (CNAs), managing clinical operations, and supporting staff, residents, and families in a skilled nursing environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Supervision & Leadership:

• Oversee daily nursing operations on the assigned shift.
• Supervise and support LPNs, LVNs, and CNAs in delivering safe and effective care.
• Delegate assignments and monitor staff performance and time management.
• Provide clinical guidance, resolve issues, and initiate corrective actions when needed.

Resident Care Management:

• Monitor residents’ conditions and ensure appropriate interventions are provided.
• Respond to emergencies and critical changes in resident status.
• Assist with assessments, care planning, and medication/treatment administration when needed.

Communication & Documentation:

• Ensure timely and accurate charting by nursing staff.
• Communicate resident updates, concerns, and shift changes to the oncoming team and interdisciplinary staff.
• Notify physicians and families regarding changes in condition or incidents as required.

Quality Assurance & Compliance:

• Conduct shift rounds to observe care delivery and address quality concerns.
• Ensure compliance with infection control, HIPAA, safety, and facility policies.
• Participate in audits, investigations, and performance improvement initiatives.

Staff Development & Support:

• Participate in training, onboarding, and evaluation of new and current staff.
• Support a positive and respectful workplace culture.
• Serve as a resource and mentor to promote clinical excellence and teamwork.
