We are seeking a qualified Authorization Specialist to join our Surgical Pre-Certification team. Core responsibilities include:
- Completes accurate and timely insurance verification/authorization
- Communicates with insurers and other appropriate parties pertaining to insurance verification and authorization
- Accurately inputs patient’s information into computer
- Accurately verifying insurance information is correct based on the card scanned into the chart
- Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time
- Must verify insurance eligibility two days prior to surgical date as assigned by Surgical Coordinator
- Update the Surgical Coordinator team on insurance guidelines
- Scan all documents pertaining to the authorization process including surgical auth
- Must be able to communicate with the Surgical Coordinator and/or Front Desk team pertaining to any issues that may arise
- Other duties as assigned by management
- Candidate must have a High School Diploma
- Knowledge of Medical Insurance Guidelines and requirements
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Excellent verbal and communication skills
- Detail oriented
- Excellent time management skills
- Medical office background experience preferred
- Multi-tasker
- Candidate should be familiar with EMR
