Position Summary

The Inventory Specialist is responsible for the accurate receipt, inspection, storage, and movement of materials to support production operations. This role plays a critical part in maintaining inventory accuracy, ensuring timely availability of materials, and supporting overall production efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Receiving & Inspection

  • Receive incoming materials, components, and shipments
  • Verify quantity, part numbers, and condition against packing slips and purchase orders
  • Report discrepancies, shortages, or damaged goods to purchasing/leadership
  • Label and document received items per company procedures

Inventory Management

  • Accurately enter receipts and transactions in the ERP system
  • Maintain proper inventory locations and organization
  • Perform cycle counts and assist with physical inventory
  • Ensure inventory accuracy and traceability at all times

Material Handling & Production Support

  • Store materials in designated locations following FIFO or material handling requirements
  • Pick, stage, and deliver materials to production areas as needed
  • Support kitting and production prep activities
  • Assist with movement of finished goods to shipping

Shipping (as needed)

  • Prepare packages for outbound shipment
  • Verify order accuracy prior to shipment
  • Coordinate with carriers and internal teams to ensure timely delivery

Safety & Housekeeping

  • Follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements
  • Maintain clean, organized work areas (5S standards)
  • Properly handle materials, including hazardous or sensitive components where applicable

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • 2+ years of experience in warehouse, inventory, or manufacturing environment
  • Basic computer skills and ability to learn ERP systems
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand/walk for extended periods
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy

Preferred

  • Experience with ERP systems
  • Forklift certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Understanding of inventory control practices (FIFO, cycle counting, etc.)
