Early Childhood Director - PreK and 3K Program , North BronxSt. Clare of Assisi–St. Francis Xavier School (SCS-SFX), located in the Morris Park section of the Bronx, is a thriving Catholic PreK–Grade 8 school with a proud tradition of serving the local community. Our Early Childhood Program proudly participates in the NYC 3-K and Pre-K for All initiatives.Applications for the 2026-2027 school year are being considered at this time.Core Competencies:Successful teaching and leadership experience as an early childhood educatorFamiliarity with the NYC Department of Education PKFA/3KFA policies and proceduresUnderstanding of and respect for the developmental, cultural, and linguistic diversity that is part of the richness of the NYC early childhood landscapeHigh expectations for instruction and social emotional support for all studentsAbility to successfully lead and coach early childhood staff using research-based best practices Commitment to leading staff in providing rich and meaningful family engagement support and resources so as to promote the extension of learning in the homeExcellent interpersonal, leadership, verbal and written communication skillsCore Roles/Responsibilities:The Early Childhood Program Director serves as the Instructional Leader for the early childhood program in an ADNY elementary school. In this role he/she:Works closely with the school principal to set, nurture and meet high expectations in terms of school culture, professionalism, cultural responsiveness and instructionActs as the main contact with Archdiocese Office of Early Childhood and NYC Division of Early Childhood EducationEnsures program compliance with the NYC PKFA/3K policy and proceduresEnsures high-quality implementation of the Creative CurriculumEnsures the implementation of Positive Behavior Guidance, as per PFKA/3K guidelinesTrains, supports, and supervises staff in providing a program that meets the differentiated needs of the children and families served by the program.Conducts daily walk-throughs, models best practices and provides formative feedback to staffCommunicates with families regularly; schedules and leads regular family educational engagement opportunities.Regularly meets with Principal to exchange program updates as well as coordinate the alignment of early childhood with K-8 initiativesLeads staff and families in the development of individual student support planning.Leads staff in Common Planning sessions and professional development meetings.Works with school principal to evaluate staff performanceWorks with school administrative and instructional staff to ensure compliance with NYC Department of Health Article 43 mandatesUses student and program assessment data to work with staff to meet the needs of all studentsManages and assists admin staff in timely completion of all paperwork relating to PKFA/3KFAQualifications:Master of Education in Early Childhood, Early Childhood Special Education or a related field (required)Current New York State Teaching Certification in Early Childhood or Childhood Teaching (required)At least 3-5 years of experience as a teacher or school leader with classroom experience, including 3 years of experience as a lead teacher in an Early Childhood classroom (required)Experience working successfully in an inclusive and diverse work environmentProficient in the use of technology (social media, Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite) and the ability to learn various educational communication platforms)Proficiency in written and oral Spanish (preferred) First Aid. Medication Administration Training, CPR and Mandated Reporter certification as well as all DOH required trainings must be completed upon hiringIf offered the position, clearance in the NYC PETS.
