Job Summary
The Environmental Services (EVS) Director is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the operations of the Environmental Services department in a healthcare facility. This includes maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment for patients, visitors, and staff in compliance with regulatory standards and infection prevention guidelines. The Director serves as a key leader in supporting patient satisfaction, safety, and quality outcomes.

Leadership & Management
Oversee daily operations of the EVS department, including housekeeping, laundry, and waste management.
Recruit, train, schedule, and evaluate EVS staff.
Develop and implement departmental policies, procedures, and quality standards.
Manage departmental budgets, staffing levels, and resource allocation.

Compliance & Safety
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including Joint Commission, OSHA, and CMS standards.
Collaborate with Infection Control to implement cleaning and disinfection protocols.
Conduct regular inspections to ensure cleanliness and safety of patient rooms, operating rooms, and common areas.

Patient & Staff Engagement
Foster a culture of service excellence, ensuring patient satisfaction with cleanliness and comfort.
Work with nursing and clinical staff to address environmental concerns promptly.
Serve as a liaison between administration, clinical departments, and environmental services.

Operational Effectiveness
Implement best practices in cleaning, waste reduction, and sustainability.
Maintain inventory and manage vendor relationships for cleaning supplies and equipment.
Utilize technology and data to monitor performance, track KPIs, and drive improvements.
Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Environmental Services, Hospitality, or related field (preferred).
Minimum 5–7 years of environmental services or facilities management experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role (healthcare experience strongly preferred).
Knowledge of infection prevention, healthcare sanitation standards, and regulatory compliance.
Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage budgets and lead large, diverse teams.
Technical Knowledge: Infection control, cleaning/disinfecting protocols, waste management.
Leadership: Ability to motivate, coach, and develop staff.
Customer Service: Commitment to patient-centered care and service excellence.
Regulatory Compliance: Familiarity with Joint Commission, OSHA, CMS, and state/local guidelines.
Operational Efficiency: Skilled in workflow optimization, staff scheduling, and resource management.
