Overview

To provide the care and support necessary to enable the people supported to lead fulfilling, meaningful and purposeful lives with attention to medical needs. Medical Support Professional (MSP) provides person centered support based on the individual’s needs, preferences, and choices.

MSPs perform a wide variety of tasks and activities based on the valued outcomes of each person they work with and reflect the specific skills and abilities of each individual. MSPs encourage, guide, and offer training to develop daily living skills, ensuring personal needs are met, promoting active engagement in community life and ensuring health and safety. MSPs create a positive and enriching program environment for all persons supported. Medical Support Professionals are a vital member of each person’s support team. MSPs are expected to know, understand, and live the Code of Ethics.

Key Responsibility

  • Maintain medication administration certification and ensure safe medication management.
  • Coordinate, attend, and follow up on all medical appointments and healthcare needs.
  • Conduct regular medication and first aid supply inventories and order supplies as needed.
  • Monitor residents’ health conditions, document medical updates, and communicate concerns to nursing staff.
  • Provide first aid, coordinate emergency care, and ensure compliance with medical policies and procedures.
  • Complete medical tracking, audits, health record updates, and support medical training initiatives.
  • Participate in team meetings and provide updates on residents’ progress, needs, and goals.
  • Implement behavior support plans, promote safety, and model positive professional behavior.
  • Assist residents with transportation, mobility development, community participation, and daily support needs.
  • Maintain accurate medical, medication, and program documentation while communicating effectively with residents, families, staff, and community partners.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalency Diploma
  • Six months work experience with

Certifications, Licenses & Registration

Must be cleared through a Criminal Background Check and Fingerprinting by Justice Center,

MHLS, and OCFS; must acquire and maintain mandatory training as required (AMAP, SCIP,

CPR, and First Aid); must possess and maintain a valid NYS Driver’s License (except for

Community Habilitation Services). Willingness to continue to develop professional skills and educational opportunities.

Additional Requirements:

  • Authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Ability to work in-person in New York City (NY) for at least 3 days or more per week.
  • Ability to travel to other Rising Ground sites (if required)

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position. 7:00am-3:00pm, 8:00am-4:00pm, or 9:00am to 5:00pm
