Job Summary:
This Full-time Tenure track position is available in the BSN Program. Primary expectations include:
- Teaching undergraduate courses in the School of Nursing.
- Lincoln University faculty are expected to also advise and mentor students and serve on departmental and institutional committees.
Essential Functions, Duties:
- Teaching/Scholarly/Service Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to
- Ability to plan and prepare course content and curriculum, utilizing assessment and effective methodologies of instruction for the enhancement of learning.
- Demonstrate procedures in nursing skills laboratory, supervise student demonstrations and evaluate student performances.
- Collaborate with other faculty members with development, implementation and evaluation of curriculum.
- Provide appropriate classroom instruction for students enrolled in assigned nursing course.
- Provide college and clinical laboratory experience for assigned students.
- Maintain formative evaluations for and provide appropriate feedback to assigned students.
- Complete summative evaluations for assigned students.
- Provide academic advisement for assigned nursing majors.
- Commitment to the philosophy and outcomes of the School of Nursing.
- Collaborate in the collection of data and the completion of reports.
- Collaborate with other nursing faculty in scheduling classes, selecting textbooks, etc.
- Works in the classroom/laboratory.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Attends and participates in faculty meetings.
- Attends nursing pinning and commencement ceremony.
- Participates in disseminating information about the School of Nursing.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Highly organized, detailed-oriented with the ability to multi-task.
- Knowledge and skills related to teaching adults, teaching methodology, curriculum development, evaluation, or willingness to plan for
acquisition of these skills no later than the first year of teaching.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Nursing from an accredited Institution.
- Current/unencumbered Registered Nurse licensed in the State of Missouri.
- Current healthcare provider CPR.
Preferred Qualifications:
- A doctorate degree in nursing or related field preferred.
- Previous teaching experience preferred; two years of full-time clinical experience in the area/areas of teaching responsibility.
Physical Requirements:
- Acceptable eyesight (with or without correction).
- Acceptable hearing (with or without hearing aid).
- Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
- Able to actively demonstrate and participate in the skills laboratory and clinical without physical limitations.
- Works in the classroom/laboratory and clinical sites at various locations.
- Ability to travel to and from clinical sites.
- Makes recommendations regarding equipment, software purchases, and equipment maintenance.
- Participates in the School of Nursing budget planning process.
- Collaborates with colleagues in grant writing/fundraising.
