As the Seasonal Outdoor Pool Manager, you will oversee daily pool operations, support staff, ensure safety standards are maintained, and help create a positive environment for everyone who visits our facility.ScheduleOpen seven days a week11:30 AM – 7:30 PMWe're looking for a strong leader who enjoys working with people, thrives in a fast-paced outdoor environment, and is committed to providing excellent customer service and aquatic safety. This is a great opportunity to build leadership experience while playing a key role in creating a fun, safe, and memorable summer for our community.POSITION SUMMARY:This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Pool Manager is responsible for the total operation of the facility including monitoring daily pool operations to adhere to all state, local, and YMCA health and safety regulations and supervises staff at the assigned outdoor pool with support from the Aquatics Director/Program Director.OUR CULTURE:Our mission and core values are brought to life by our culture. We are determined: above all else, we are on a relentless quest to make our community stronger beginning with you.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Responsible for the appearance, presentation, and working order of the outdoor pool facilityAssist in hiring, supervision, and scheduling staff to cover facility needsKnows/reviews all emergency procedures and safety rules and responds to emergency situations immediately in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures, ensuring the safety of patrons and employees, including regulations about Child Abuse Prevention standardsResponsible for identifying and responding appropriately to customer wants, needs, and expectations as related to areas of responsibilityMaintains effective, positive relationships with the members, participants, and other staff and consistently enforces rules of the poolMaintains accurate records as required by the YMCA and/or the State Health Department codePerforms equipment checks and ensures appropriate equipment is available as neededChecks pool for hazardous conditions when arrivingPerforms chemical testing at the start of shift and end of shift, as required, and takes appropriate action as neededMaintain proper safety checks in pool area and monitor lifeguard rotation to ensure proper pool surveillance is maintained during lifeguard changes and rotations.Perform drop drills and aquatic quick checks, recording outcomes for skill assessments and future trainings. Teach classes and lifeguard when necessary.Communicates with staff and community members promptly and professionally in regards to procedures, activities, changes, weather, etc.Keep pool area neat and perform general pool maintenance when requestedAttend all staff meetings and in-service trainings and assist with dissemination of informationCompletes related reports as requiredLEADERSHIP COMPETENCIES:InclusionEngaging CommunityEmotional MaturityQUALIFICATIONS:Minimum age of 18A High School diploma or general educational development certificateCertifications: CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid, Lifeguard Certification2 years' experience supervising people and/or managing operations in a service industryBasic computer skills, including Micro soft office and point of saleMay be required to acquire PA Pesticide Applicator Certification and Certified Pool Operator trainingWORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Physically perform all skills required of a lifeguardHear noises and distress signals in the aquatic environment, including in the water and anywhere around the zone of responsibilityRegularly working in an outside environment and exposed to the elementsMay have exposure to pool chemicalsRemain alert with no lapses of consciousnessSee and observe all sections of an assigned zone or area of responsibilityEmployee must be able to communicate effectively by speaking and listening in a loud environmentThe employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds
