Position Overview

Identifies client needs. Work with the client to gather all the pertinent information on the client's business operations, exposures and loss experience. Work with the various carriers in the placement of the client's insurance programs with the highest level of insurance product line and expertise.


Essential Duties/Responsibilities


Prospects and New Business Accounts

  • Pre-qualifies own new business according to agency standards.
  • Informs and educates clients about policy coverage, changes, exclusion and insurance coverage needs.
  • Provides technical support to producer(s) to benefit clients and to reach agency's strategic business goals.
  • Prepares proposals and completes application in coordination with producer(s); submits applications to eligible and appropriate carriers; obtains client signatures on all applications; follows up to ensure timely receipt of quotations and policies.
  • Explains to clients' needs by producing binders, certificates, policies, endorsements and other related items; verifies their accuracy.


Retention

  • Prepares summaries of insurance, schedules and proposals as needed.
  • Re-markets renewals, contact clients, creates renewal proposals and handles other renewal activities in coordination with the producer(s).
  • Renews policies following agency standards; verifies each renewal's accuracy; ensures that all renewals are produced.
  • Review audits of policies; verifies accuracy and facilitates corrections, as needed, between client and carrier.
  • Verifies policy and policy change information, facilitating correction when necessary.
  • Processes incoming mail requests, responding promptly and appropriately.
  • Various activities involved in the cancellation of policies for direct and agency billed policies including processing, requesting, reinstating and other related activities.
  • Assists clients in submitting claims.


Qualifications

  • College degree or equivalent work experience preferred.
  • Active Hawaii Property & Casualty License.
  • Minimum 8 years of Commercial Lines insurance experience.
  • Experience managing a commercial lines book of business.
  • Strong understanding of commercial insurance coverages and policy structures.
  • Experience marketing accounts and working directly with insurance carriers.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working with middle-market commercial accounts.
  • Knowledge of commercial underwriting principles and rating methodologies.
  • Experience reviewing contracts and insurance requirements.
  • Proficiency with agency management systems and carrier portals.
