Salary Range: $18.00 - $25.66/hour (based on experience)
Full-Time | Non-Exempt
Schedule: 40 hours per week

Lutheran is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to help maintain safe, comfortable, and well-functioning facilities for our residents, employees, and visitors.

Position Summary

Under the general direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Mechanic I performs preventive and general maintenance, repairs, and project work involving the electrical, mechanical, plumbing, structural, heating, cooling, and ventilation systems throughout Lutheran’s campus and other properties.

What You’ll Do
  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical, mechanical, and building systems
  • Complete corrective maintenance on furniture, fixtures, and interior and exterior building surfaces.
  • Perform minor roof, window, painting, and other general building repairs.
  • Assist with the maintenance of heating, cooling, and ventilation systems.
  • Install and repair locks, door handles, keys, and related hardware.
  • Complete general repairs (fixtures, surfaces, minor roof repairs, painting, glass installation)
  • Install and repair locks, keys, and hardware
  • Use the Siemens Building Control System to monitor equipment, review alarms, and assist with troubleshooting.
  • Respond to maintenance emergencies and support a variety of projects and operational needs across the campus.
  • Perform snow removal and occasional groundskeeping.
  • Collect and dispose of trash and provide other general facility support when needed.
  • Set up and take down tables, chairs, and related equipment for campus events.
  • Document completed work and maintain accurate information in the Worx Hub maintenance management system.
  • Accurately record work hours, departmental charges, equipment information, parts, costs, and purchase-order information.
  • Work with and receive training from Maintenance Mechanic II employees to expand technical skills.
  • Follow required safety procedures, attend required training, and perform other duties as assigned.
What We’re Looking For
  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Five years of relevant experience may be considered in place of a diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a related trade preferred
  • Trade school or vocational training a plus. Relevant vocational training may be considered in place of the preferred experience.
  • Valid NYS driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English (verbal and written)
  • Basic knowledge of general building maintenance practices, tools, equipment, and safety procedures.
  • Ability to document work accurately and use an electronic maintenance management system.
  • Willingness to learn, grow, and take on new maintenance skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with minimal supervision or reminders.
  • Dependable, flexible, safety-conscious, and able to respond effectively to changing priorities and emergencies.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
  • Work is performed both indoors and outdoors in changing weather and environmental conditions.
  • The position may involve exposure to heat, cold, dampness, heights, mechanical vibration, noise, and confined work areas.
  • Frequent standing, walking, climbing, balancing, bending, kneeling, crawling, reaching, grasping, turning, and twisting are required.
  • Must be able to push, pull, and lift approximately 50 pounds during typical work activities and up to 100 pounds when required.
  • Must be able to safely use common hand and power tools, ladders, lifts, testing devices, vehicles, and personal protective equipment.
  • Must be able to travel throughout the campus and drive Lutheran vehicles when needed.
  • Schedule may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed
