Job Description
Registered Nurse – Newborn Nursery / NICU Level 2Role Summary

Bring your expertise to a nurturing and high-functioning Level 2 Special Care Nursery (SCN). This role is perfect for a compassionate RN who enjoys the rewarding environment of neonatal care, supporting approximately 800–900 births per year. You will work in an 8-bed SCN, providing specialized care to newborns while having the peace of mind that comes with 24/7 Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) and Neonatology availability. As a key member of our maternal-child health team, you will manage Level 2 acuity patients, ensuring a safe and supportive start for our smallest patients before they transition home or are stabilized for higher-level care.

Key Duties:

  • Neonatal Clinical Excellence: Provide specialized nursing care for newborns in an 8-bed Level 2 Special Care Nursery.

  • Patient Stabilization: Utilize NRP and STABLE protocols to assess, stabilize, and monitor neonates requiring extra medical support.

  • Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Partner closely with on-call Neonatologists and 24/7 NNPs to execute care plans and ensure patient safety.

  • Acuity Management: Manage Level 2 patients effectively; collaborate on the coordination of air-lifts for high-acuity patients requiring transfer to major neonatal centers.

  • Family-Centered Care: Provide education and emotional support to parents and families during their stay in the SCN.

  • Quality & Safety: Maintain rigorous safety standards and stay current with neonatal best practices and certifications.

Required Qualifications
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of specialty experience in a Special Care Nursery (SCN) or NICU setting.

  • Certifications: Current BLS, NRP, and STABLE certifications are required.

  • Licensure: Current Registered Nurse License.

Desired Qualifications
  • Advanced Experience: More than 2 years of NICU Level 2 or higher experience is strongly preferred.

  • Adaptability: Comfort working in a setting where high-acuity stabilization and transport coordination are part of the clinical workflow.

Location and Work Type
  • Setting: Newborn Nursery / Level 2 SCN (Hospital Setting)

  • Work Type: Full-Time | Direct Hire

  • Shift Times: 12-Hour Night Shifts (0600–1830 or 1800–0630).

  • Sign-on Bonus and Relocation Assistance available.
