Position Summary


The Communication Manager serves as the central coordinator for Oliver Gospel Mission's fundraising campaigns, donor communications, and development systems.


This role translates fundraising strategy into executable campaigns by managing donor segmentation, campaign timelines, communications planning, performance reporting, and development workflows. Working closely with the Director of Development, Communication Manager translates departmental strategy into coordinated execution and measurable results. The position ensures that fundraising campaigns and communications are timely, targeted, compelling, and effective.


The Communication Manager serves as the operational leader of the Development Department, ensuring fundraising campaigns, donor communications, reporting, and support functions are executed effectively and consistently. While fundraising strategy remains the responsibility of the Director of Development, this role provides day-to-day leadership for campaign execution, communications coordination, data operations, and project management.


The Communication Manager supervises communications and data operations staff and serves as the primary owner of campaign execution across direct mail, digital communications, stewardship initiatives, and special appeals.

For the Communication Manager


  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, Nonprofit Management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years’ experience in nonprofit fundraising, marketing, communications, campaign management, or development operations
  • Experience managing multi-channel fundraising campaigns
  • CRM/database experience
  • Strong project management skills
  • Experience supervising staff
  • Strong analytical and communication abilities


Position Responsibilities


Development Operations

  • Manage the annual development communications and campaign calendar
  • Coordinate execution of all fundraising campaigns
  • Oversee CRM strategy, data workflows, and segmentation
  • Develop donor targeting strategies
  • Monitor donor retention and engagement metrics
  • Create dashboards and reports for leadership
  • Ensure consistency and compliance across development processes
  • Facilitate regular campaign planning and project meetings
  • Monitor project progress and proactively address workflow bottlenecks
  • Coordinate cross-functional development initiatives to ensure accountability and timely completion


Campaign Management

  • Lead campaign planning from concept through execution
  • Coordinate timelines across development, communications, design, and donor relations
  • Manage direct mail production schedules
  • Oversee email fundraising campaigns
  • Ensure campaign deliverables are completed on schedule


Communications Leadership

  • Develop integrated communication plans supporting fundraising goals
  • Collaborate with the Director of Development to implement messaging strategy for appeals, stewardship, and donor communications
  • Review and approve fundraising copy
  • Ensure consistent organizational voice and brand standards
  • Coordinate communication efforts between development and program staff


Team Leadership
