- High School or trade school diploma is required; a Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.
- 2-4 years of experience in operations & maintenance of a water and/or wastewater treatment facility; or any equivalent combination of education and experience, preferred.
- Mechanical ability and overall adaptability to changing conditions and environments is required.
- A hands-on approach to troubleshooting, identifying, and resolving maintenance related issues that arise in the treatment system.
- New Jersey Industrial Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator's License (N), is preferred or the ability to obtain through the operator’s exam, or reciprocity.
- OSHA 40hr. HAZWOPER with current 8hr. refresher (if applicable).
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds on a regular basis.
- Working knowledge of the principles, procedures, methods, equipment, materials, and tools employed in the operation' and maintenance of the Wastewater Treatment system.
- Thorough knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions involved in water and wastewater treatment work and the ability to respond to emergency call-outs as needed.
- Knowledge of computer applications.
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply instructions, drawings and specifications for work assigned.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- A strong work ethic and team first approach are requirements for this position.
- Successful candidates will be required to complete a background check, pre-placement physical and drug screen before employment.
