JOB SUMMARY

The Shelter Aide assists and fills in for the House Manager. He/she is responsible for the monitoring of the residents, works closely with the supervisor, and communicates all activities of the house.


JOB DUTIES

  • Embodies Eva’s Village’s core values, voice and tone in order to provide an exceptional and effective experience for our clients, funders, employees and volunteers.
  • Must be completely familiar with all rules and policies and procedures of the program.
  • Maintains the sign-in/sign-out sheets.
  • Maintains activities log with NA/AA meetings, van, etc.
  • Maintains the communication book.
  • Responsible for client data entry into the HMIS system.
  • Responsible for answering the phone, relaying calls, taking messages, and mail distribution.
  • Responsible for the security of the program.
  • Responsible for all incidents concerning resident problems being reported promptly.
  • Promptly reports to the transportation coordinator any problems concerning the van (maintenance, supplies or any household problems).
  • Responsible for the arrangement of transportation of residents to meetings, hospitals, etc. and, if need be, may be asked to drive.
  • Interface with residents, referring their problems to the proper person resulting in the resident getting the assistance he needs.
  • Attends mandatory in-service and staff meetings.
  • Responsible for urine testing/breathalyzers and recording of tests and results.
  • Monitors and documents resident’s medication.
  • Responsible for assigning work details.
  • Responsible for seeing that resident meals are served.
  • Serves as a liaison between the residents and supervisory staff.
  • Reports all breakdowns and wear and tear to the maintenance department.
  • Oversees periodic special work details.
  • Responsible for daily inspection of rooms.
  • Assigns room and bed to new residents.
  • Arranges for NA/AA meetings in the house.
  • Performs crisis intervention when necessary.
  • Responsible for all office supplies and ordering when necessary.
  • Responsible for charting resident appointments.
  • Responsible for maintaining the calendar of all resident’s appointments with D.V.R., Welfare, PIC, food stamps, court dates, probation/parole, G.A.E.P. and medical clinic.
  • Monitors that residents are seeking jobs.
  • Monitors attendance at NA/AA meetings for all residents.
  • Any other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS


EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED equivalent


EXPERIENCE:

  • Basic computer skills.
  • If in recovery, must have a minimum of one year of continuous abstinence, as well as working knowledge of the 12 steps.
  • It is essential to demonstrate the ability to function with minimal on-site supervision, learn quickly, follow detailed policies and
  • procedures, and possess the ability to communicate clearly and accurately to all levels of personnel.
  • Must supervise residents in a fair and diplomatic manner.
  • Must possess the ability to diffuse crises.
