Customer Service Representative - Logistics & Transportation
Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Customer Service Representative to support our transportation and logistics operations. This role is responsible for managing customer accounts, monitoring shipments, resolving service issues, and ensuring exceptional customer satisfaction in a fast-paced transportation environment.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with transportation management systems, handling shipment tracking and tracing, managing order entry, and communicating proactively with customers regarding service updates and delivery performance. Experience in trucking or logistics operations is strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Enter and manage customer orders accurately within the Transportation Management System (TMS).
- Monitor shipments throughout the delivery lifecycle, providing tracking and tracing updates as needed.
- Respond promptly to customer inquiries via phone, email, and other communication channels.
- Investigate and resolve shipment delays, service failures, and customer concerns.
- Proactively communicate service disruptions and provide alternative solutions to minimize customer impact.
- Generate and distribute operational and performance reports to customers and management.
- Collaborate with dispatchers, drivers, and operations teams to ensure on-time service.
- Maintain accurate customer records and shipment documentation.
- Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities to enhance customer service and operational efficiency.
- Handle a high volume of customer interactions while maintaining professionalism and attention to detail.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of hands-on experience using a transportation management system (TMS) such as McLeod, TMW Systems, Samsara, MercuryGate, or similar logistics software.
- Minimum of 2 years of customer service experience within transportation, trucking, logistics, supply chain, or a related industry.
- Experience with order entry, shipment tracking/tracing, issue resolution, and customer reporting.
- Basic understanding of DOT and FMCSA regulations, including Hours of Service (HOS) and how they impact transportation operations.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Excellent problem-solving and conflict-resolution abilities.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in trucking, dedicated fleet, brokerage, or third-party logistics (3PL) operations.
- Experience supporting CDL-A driver operations and transportation customers.
- Familiarity with transportation performance metrics and service-level reporting.
