Closing: Convincing clients to buy policies and completing the paperwork. Service: Helping clients update policies or file claims. Key Skills and Requirements Communication: Explaining complex insurance rules in simple terms and listening well. Persistence: Handling rejection and following up with leads steadily .Licensing: Holding a valid state license for life, health, property, or casualty insurance. Organization: Tracking client meetings, renewals, and deadlines.

Requirements

To become an insurance producer, you must complete pre-licensing education, pass a state exam, and submit a background check. Requirements vary by state, but generally follow a standard path managed through platforms like the National Insurance Producer Registry. Basic Qualifications Be at least 18 years old. Hold a high school diploma or equivalent. Prove good character and financial responsibility .Education and Testing Complete state-approved pre-licensing courses (e.g., 20 to 40 hours depending on lines like Life, Health, or Property and Casualty).Pass the official state insurance licensing exam. Application and Background Check Submit fingerprints for a criminal background check .File the official license application and pay state licensing fees. ( of which is reimbursed by the agency owner upon passing )
