DIRECT SUPPORT PROFESSIONAL-HOURLY
Job Description
Resources for Human Development (RHD) is seeking compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to provide support, supervision, and assistance to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and behavioral health needs in community-based residential settings.
The DSP plays a vital role in promoting independence, dignity, and community inclusion while ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of individuals served. This position works closely with clinical and program staff to implement person-centered support plans, assist individuals in achieving their goals, and support participation in daily living and community activities. A commitment to RHD's values and trauma-informed approach is essential to success in this role.
Key ResponsibilitiesDirect Support & Care
- Provide supervision and support in accordance with each individual's Individual Support Plan (ISP) and person-centered goals.
- Assist individuals in working toward outcomes identified in their ISP and other support plans.
- Support activities of daily living, including:
- Personal hygiene and grooming
- Toileting and personal care
- Meal planning and preparation
- Household tasks and routines
- Administer medications in accordance with agency policies and applicable regulations.
- Promote independence, self-advocacy, and informed decision-making.
- Provide transportation to appointments, activities, and community events.
- Support participation in community-based activities and social opportunities.
- Assist individuals in accessing community resources, including:
- Medical appointments
- Social service agencies
- Social Security and other benefit-related services
- Complete required documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, clinical staff, families, and other team members regarding individual progress and concerns.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with all agency policies and regulatory requirements.
- Implement residential and clinically based interventions as directed.
- Assist individuals in completing assigned program and treatment goals.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
QualificationsRequired
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Valid driver's license.
- Basic computer and internet proficiency, including the ability to use email, electronic documentation systems, timekeeping applications, and other software programs.
- Ability to obtain required employment clearances, including FBI clearance when applicable.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
- Previous experience working in human services, behavioral health, intellectual and developmental disabilities, caregiving, or a related field.
