The Behavioral Wellness Center at Girard is seeking a Bilingual Substance Use Counselor to join our Torre De La Razza Unit (Tower of the People), a specialized substance use treatment program serving Latino men in a culturally responsive environment.
The Latino Men’s Unit provides short and long term treatment in Spanish for individuals who are monolingual or bilingual and experiencing substance use disorders. The program is designed to remove language and cultural barriers by delivering care in a supportive, culturally appropriate therapeutic setting.
In addition, the Women Helping Other Women (WHOW) program provides short and long term treatment for women in English, with a focus on trauma informed care, recovery support, and family reunification.
We are seeking counselors who are passionate about substance use treatment, addiction recovery, behavioral health, and culturally responsive care. This role is ideal for professionals with experience in counseling, case management, drug and alcohol treatment, or behavioral health who are looking to grow within a structured clinical environment.
Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish is required for this position.
Responsibilities• Conduct intake assessments, psychosocial evaluations, and treatment planning within required timeframes
• Provide individual and group counseling for clients with substance use and co occurring disorders
• Develop and update individualized treatment plans with measurable goals
• Facilitate psychoeducation groups on addiction, recovery, and relapse prevention
• Document all clinical services in the Electronic Health Record accurately and timely
• Monitor client progress and adjust treatment interventions as needed
• Coordinate discharge planning and aftercare services
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to support client outcomes
• Maintain compliance with regulatory, confidentiality, and documentation standards
QualificationsEducation• Bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Health, Counseling, Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, or a related field required
• Master’s degree in Behavioral Health, Counseling, Social Work, or a related field preferred
Language• Bilingual English and Spanish required
• Must be able to effectively provide counseling and communicate with clients in Spanish
Experience & Clinical Knowledge• Minimum of 2 years of experience in substance use treatment, behavioral health, counseling, or a related field
• Experience in drug and alcohol treatment programs strongly preferred
• Knowledge of ASAM criteria required
• Knowledge of addiction recovery, relapse prevention, substance use disorders, and co occurring disorders required
• Experience conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, facilitating groups, and maintaining clinical documentation preferred

• Ability to develop and maintain appropriate therapeutic relationships and professional boundaries
• Strong organizational and clinical documentation skills
• Ability to effectively manage a caseload and competing priorities
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary behavioral health team
• Ability to provide culturally responsive services to diverse populations
Work EnvironmentThis is a fully onsite position within a structured behavioral health and substance use treatment setting. The role requires strong communication skills, the ability to manage a caseload, and the ability to remain professional in high demand clinical environments.
