Job Description
An Industrial Forklift Operator operates a forklift to move, load, and unload materials in a warehouse or industrial setting. They are responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the forklift, as well as ensuring the proper handling and storage of goods. They also play a crucial role in maintaining inventory accuracy and reporting any safety hazards.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Operating Forklifts:
    Safely operate forklifts to move materials, including pallets, boxes, and other items, around the facility.
  • Loading and Unloading:
    Load and unload materials from trucks, trailers, and other vehicles using forklifts.
  • Material Handling:
    Manually or mechanically load and unload materials from various platforms and devices.
  • Inventory Management:
    Assist with inventory control, including picking orders, stocking shelves, and tracking inventory levels.
  • Equipment Maintenance:
    Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as cleaning, lubricating, and refueling forklifts.
  • Safety Compliance:
    Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures, including those related to forklift operation and material handling.
  • Communication:
    Communicate with team members and management to ensure efficient and effective operations.
  • Documentation:
    Complete necessary paperwork and reports, such as load sheets and inventory records.
Essential Skills:
  • Forklift Operation: Proven ability to safely and efficiently operate forklifts of various types.
  • Material Handling: Knowledge of proper techniques for handling and securing materials for transport.
  • Inventory Management: Familiarity with inventory control systems and procedures.
  • Safety Awareness: Strong understanding of safety regulations and procedures.
  • Communication: Ability to effectively communicate with team members and management.
  • Physical Fitness: Ability to perform physical tasks, such as lifting and bending.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Training: May be responsible for training new forklift operators.
  • Problem Solving: May be required to troubleshoot minor mechanical issues with forklifts.
  • Teamwork: May work with other team members to complete tasks.
