Job Description

Build It Right. Set the Standard. Pour With Precision.

At COP Construction, we build the concrete structures that everything else depends on. We’re looking for a Civil Carpenter who takes pride in their craft, understands the importance of precision, and shows up ready to do quality work every day. If you know your way around forms, elevations, and finishes—and you understand that safety and accuracy matter—we want you on our crew.

What This Role Is About

As a Civil Carpenter, you’re responsible for building, setting, and stripping concrete forms for a wide range of structures—from footings and walls to decks and site work. You play a key role in making sure everything is straight, level, and built to spec before the concrete ever gets poured. This is skilled, hands-on work. It takes attention to detail, strong teamwork, and a commitment to getting it right the first time.

What You’ll Do

  • Build, set, and strip forms for footings, slabs, walls, columns, vaults, decks, parapets, and site work
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and project specifications
  • Layout work and establish proper grades and elevations
  • Cut and assemble wood, plywood, or forming systems (including Symons or similar systems)
  • Install embeds, anchor bolts, and accessories for concrete placement
  • Tie rebar and assist with reinforcing as needed
  • Brace, anchor, and secure forms to ensure stability and accuracy
  • Assist with concrete placement and finishing using tools like vibrators, trowels, bull floats, and edgers
  • Grind, chip, or smooth concrete surfaces to meet finish expectations
  • Set up and work from ladders, scaffolding, and elevated structures
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
  • Communicate clearly with the Foreman or Superintendent on progress, needs, and issues
  • Support labor crews as needed to keep production moving
  • Follow all safety policies, procedures, and job site requirements

What It Takes

  • Minimum 3 years of concrete carpentry experience (or equivalent)
  • Ability to pass refinery-required training and background check
  • Strong ability to read and work from blueprints and plans
  • Proficiency with carpentry tools (measuring tools, saws, drills, etc.)
  • Knowledge of forming systems, layout, and concrete placement processes
  • Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship
  • Ability to work independently and with a crew
  • Willingness to learn and improve your skills
  • Strong communication and teamwork mindset
  • Ability to work safely around equipment, crews, and active job sites
  • Be a team participant committed to producing strong, measurable field performance while upholding COP’s Core Values: SAFETY, EXCELLENCE, INTEGRITY, TEAMWORK, POSITIVE ATTITUDE & DEDICATION

What You Can Expect From Us

  • Safety is non-negotiable—we take care of our people
  • Steady, skilled work with opportunities to grow
  • A crew that values quality craftsmanship and teamwork
  • Leadership that supports and develops your skills
  • The opportunity to work on meaningful infrastructure projects

Work Environment

This is field work—outdoors, around heavy equipment, in changing conditions. The job requires physical effort, including lifting, climbing, bending, and working at heights and in confined spaces. Projects may require extended hours, nights, or weekends.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently
  • Ability to climb ladders and scaffolding and work at heights
  • Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, and perform physical labor throughout the day
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and varying weather conditions
  • Strong hand-eye coordination
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment and random drug and alcohol testing
  • Must be able to wear required PPE, including hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, respirators, harnesses, and protective clothing

Join the Team

If you take pride in your work, understand the importance of precision, and want to be part of a crew that builds it right—we want to hear from you.
