Mental Health Worker
Job Description
*Overview*
We are seeking a dedicated and highly motivated Mental Health Worker to join our team. The ideal candidate will assist in providing direct patient care and support to individuals in a mental health setting. The Mental Health Worker at Laguna Shores Recovery LLC is responsible for providing direct services to clients, maintaining a safe therapeutic environment, and facilitating the smooth day-to-day operation of the program.
*Duties*
%CF; Maintain appropriate boundaries with clients;
%CF; Support clients in accessing community resources;
%CF; Provide individual and group sessions to clients;
%CF; Supervise clients’ (self-administered) prescribed medications, recording each medication self-administration in clients’ records;
%CF; Provide effective emotional support and crisis intervention to clients;
%CF; Teach effective independent living skills to clients;
%CF; Provide information (verbally and in the communication log) to staff during shift transition;
%CF; Prioritize daily tasks and perform effectively;
%CF; Manage program to ensure clients feel safe and secure;
%CF; Manage time effectively to carry out daily job duties;
%CF; Provide leadership and oversight of clients’ activities (including recreational activities) and outings;
%CF; Ensure completion of clients’ household chores; and,
%CF; Ensure that the facility is clean, safe, sanitary, and in good repair
%CF; Represent LAGUNA SHORES MENTAL HEALTH in a professional manner;
%CF; Demonstrate a proactive approach and attitude;
%CF; Maintain confidentiality of all aspects of client care, including records relating to client’s treatment, except when reporting is required pursuant to applicable policies, procedures, regulations and/or statutes;
%CF; Document information for client’s attendance at individual and group sessions.
%CF; Adheres to program’s policies and procedures
%CF; Utilizes customer service approach with clients, family members and community members
*Qualifications*
%CF; Must be at least 18 years of age.
%CF; Education: High School graduate or possess a GED. Coursework in counseling, psychology, or social work preferred.
%CF; Experience: One-year full-time experience, or its part-time equivalent, working directly with clients in a program serving people with mental health disorders. Such experience must be in the direct provision of services to clients.
%CF; Valid driver’s license, clean driving record and personal automobile insurance.
%CF; Hiring is contingent upon receiving DOJ/FBI fingerprint 168 clearance or an exemption, a submission of a signed Criminal Record Statement (LIC 508), a TB test, and clearance on an employment physical.
%CF; Current First Aid and CPR certification is preferred prior to employment.
