The Ridge Ohio is currently looking for a full-time substance abuse Detox Counselor who is passionate about helping people maintain Recovery for Life.


Started in 2011, The Ridge's primary program is a residential substance abuse facility in Batavia, Ohio. We are currently expanding our outpatient services in surrounding areas at our Joint Commission Accredited programs.

Summary: Counsels and aids individuals and families requiring assistance dealing with substance use dependency by performing the following duties.


Essential duties and responsibilities include the following; other duties may be assigned:

  • Interviews clients, reviews records, and confers with other professionals to evaluate condition of client
  • Formulates program for treatment and rehabilitation of client
  • Counsels clients individually and in group sessions to assist clients in overcoming alcohol and drug dependency
  • Counsels family members to assist family in dealing with and providing support for client
  • Refers client to other support services as needed, such as medical evaluation and treatment, social services, and employment services
  • Monitors condition of client to evaluate success of therapy and adapts treatment as needed
  • Prepares and maintains reports and case histories while managing outpatient census in electronic medical record
  • Formulates and conducts programs to promote prevention of alcohol and drug dependency using established curriculum
  • Completes appropriate documentation in a timely manner using current methods whether manual or electronic


Qualifications:

  • Must hold a Bachelor's Degree or higher
  • Must hold an active LCDCIII license or higher licensure.

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instruction, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organizations.

Reasoning: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, and individual should have knowledge of database software, internet software, and word processing software.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Must hold current licensure in the State of Ohio as a Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant and/or Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (Level II or III), Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, Marriage and Family Therapists, or Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor
