Job Description
The 2nd Shift Maintenance Mechanic maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs industrial production equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operation throughout the facility. This role focuses on preventive maintenance, mechanical and basic electrical troubleshooting, and timely repair of machinery to minimize downtime on the production floor.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the reliable operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by performing scheduled preventive maintenance on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines.
- Follow diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, manufacturer instructions, and engineering specifications to inspect, service, and repair equipment.
- Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions by identifying root causes, determining appropriate repair methods, and implementing effective solutions to restore equipment to service.
- Perform preventive maintenance tasks on machinery and equipment, including inspection, lubrication, adjustment, and replacement of components as needed.
- Document maintenance activities by completing detailed work orders and mechanical maintenance reports, summarizing problems found, repairs performed, parts used, and trends observed.
- Work on gearboxes, pumps, and three-phase motors, performing repairs, replacements, and adjustments to maintain optimal performance.
- Support basic PLC troubleshooting and work with control systems as needed to assist in diagnosing equipment issues.
- Assist with hydraulic and pneumatic system maintenance, including inspection, troubleshooting, and component replacement.
- Collaborate with other maintenance technicians, production staff, and leadership to coordinate repairs and minimize production disruptions.
- Follow lockout/tagout and all safety procedures when working on equipment to ensure a safe working environment.
Essential Skills
- At least 2-3 years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing or similar environment.
- Proficiency in basic mechanical troubleshooting of industrial machinery and production equipment.
- Hands-on experience working on gearboxes, pumps, and three-phase motors.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical components using hoists, cranes, and a variety of hand and power tools.
- Knowledge and practical use of lockout/tagout procedures for equipment safety.
- Experience with hydraulics and hydraulic systems maintenance.
- Experience with pneumatics and pneumatic systems maintenance.
- Ability to perform preventive maintenance, including inspection, lubrication, and adjustment of equipment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience as a maintenance technician in a manufacturing setting is strongly preferred.
- Experience working with three-phase electrical systems and related components.
- Familiarity with gearboxes, motors, and related mechanical drive components.
- Experience with preventive maintenance programs and documentation.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ocala, FL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $26.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
