We are seeking an experienced Quality Technician / CMM Programmer to join our team. This position plays a critical role in ensuring that all products meet customer requirements, industry standards, and internal quality expectations. The ideal candidate will have strong inspection experience, advanced GD&T knowledge, and the ability to independently create and maintain programs for Zeiss Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs). This role works closely with production, engineering, and management to support quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement throughout the organization.


Responsibilities:


Inspection & Verification

• Perform first-article, in-process, and final inspections on manufactured components.

• Verify conformance to engineering drawings, customer specifications, and internal quality requirements.

• Perform dimensional inspections using precision measurement equipment including calipers, micrometers, indicators, height gages, thread gages, bore gages, and optical comparators.

• Conduct and document First Article Inspections (FAIs) as required.

• Review manufacturing documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance.


CMM Programming & Advanced Inspection

• Create, modify, and maintain inspection programs for Zeiss Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs).

• Perform first-article, in-process, and final inspections using Zeiss CMM equipment.

• Validate and troubleshoot CMM programs to ensure accurate and repeatable inspection results.

• Interpret inspection data and communicate findings to production, engineering, and management teams.

• Develop inspection methodologies for complex machined components and tight-tolerance features.

• Support continuous improvement efforts related to inspection efficiency and measurement accuracy.


Quality Documentation

• Complete inspection reports, quality records, and customer documentation accurately and thoroughly.

• Maintain traceability records and inspection documentation in accordance with company and customer requirements.

• Review manufacturing travelers and work instructions for completeness and accuracy.

• Assist with calibration control and maintenance of inspection equipment records.


Production Support

• Work closely with machinists, setup personnel, and programmers to resolve quality concerns.

• Support production by performing in-process inspections to prevent defects and reduce rework.

• Assist in identifying trends and opportunities for process improvement.

• Collaborate with manufacturing personnel to ensure product quality is maintained throughout the production process.


Nonconformance & Corrective Action

• Identify, document, and track nonconforming material.

• Support root cause investigations and corrective action activities.

• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing scrap, improving process capability, and increasing efficiency.


Audits & Compliance

• Support internal, customer, and regulatory audits as required.

• Assist in maintaining compliance with AS9100, customer-specific requirements, and internal quality procedures.

• Ensure adherence to all quality management system requirements.


Safety & Team Collaboration

• Follow all company safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work environment.

• Work effectively with quality, engineering, and production personnel to ensure customer requirements are met.

• Promote a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.


Qualifications:


Experience

• Minimum of 3 years of quality inspection experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.

• Experience inspecting precision machined components.

• Aerospace, defense, gear manufacturing, or other high-tolerance manufacturing experience is highly desirable.

• Experience working in a job shop or high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment is a plus.


Technical Skills

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T.

• Proficiency with precision inspection equipment including micrometers, calipers, indicators, bore gages, thread gages, and height gages.

• Required: Experience programming and operating Zeiss CMMs.

• Strong understanding of CMM inspection strategies, reporting, and dimensional analysis.

• Familiarity with AS9100, ISO 9001, or similar quality management systems.

• Strong understanding of inspection techniques, sampling methods, and quality documentation requirements.


Education

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

• Technical school, associate degree, or quality-related training is preferred.


Certifications

• ASQ Certified Quality Technician (CQT), Certified Mechanical Inspector (CMI), or equivalent certifications are a plus.

• NIMS certifications related to inspection and measurement are beneficial.

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout a manufacturing facility during a full work shift.

• Ability to perform detailed visual inspections and work with precision measuring equipment.
