We are looking for an Operational FP & A specialist to support financial planning, close activities, and performance reporting for manufacturing operations in Louisville, Kentucky. This position partners closely with plant leadership across multiple facilities to provide financial insight where there is limited on-site accounting support. The role blends accounting fundamentals with operational analysis, making it ideal for someone who enjoys working with data, improving processes, and helping leaders make informed business decisions.
Responsibilities:
• Lead monthly close support by preparing journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and other accounting activities tied to plant operations.
• Develop budgets, forecasts, and recurring financial reports that help leadership track performance and plan effectively.
• Serve as the primary finance partner for management teams across three manufacturing locations, translating financial results into actionable operational insight.
• Analyze cost trends, inventory activity, and moving average costing data to identify issues and highlight opportunities for improvement.
• Use advanced Excel tools and business intelligence reporting to work with large data sets and produce meaningful analysis for decision-makers.
• Support staffing allocations and other recurring financial calculations that affect operational and departmental reporting.
• Contribute to process enhancements by refining reporting methods, improving data visibility, and strengthening financial controls.
• Collaborate with plant leaders on financial questions related to spending, production performance, and overall operational results.• Practical experience with month-end close, including debits and credits, journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
• Background in budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting within an operational or manufacturing-focused environment.
• Ability to perform financial analysis with a strong understanding of cost accounting principles, including inventory-related reporting.
• Proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables and lookup functions, with the ability to manage and interpret large volumes of data.
• Experience using reporting or ERP tools such as Sage 500, Power BI, or similar financial systems.
• Manufacturing experience is preferred, particularly in environments involving cost accounting or plant-level financial support.
• Approximately three years of relevant experience is preferred; a degree is not required for candidates with strong hands-on experience.
• A collaborative, adaptable approach and the ability to work effectively with operations leaders across multiple facilities.
