For more information visit our website at: www.ccs-soaz.org.OVERVIEWThe Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) Advocate qualifies and determines the eligibility for program services for clients and community members. Responsible for collaborating with associated agencies in advocating for client needs. Provides guidance, referrals, resources, and support to clients needing lay legal assistance. Advocates for client needs. Position may from time to time be stressful and require a high demand of performance. May perform other duties as assigned.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSConducts crisis intervention, safety planning, and screening for intervention services to hotline callersProvides ongoing services to program participants, such as: crisis intervention, safety planning, needs assessment, service plan development, advocacy, case management, coordination of care, referrals, and follow-up Maintains service records and documentation through progress notes, service plans, reviews, and completion of reportsFacilitation, advocacy, and support with the criminal justice system or other proceedings Provides individual, systems, or lay legal advocacy servicesResponsible for maintaining participant caseloadUtilize the "Empowerment Model" of behavior and trauma informed care approachesResponsible for the safety, well-being, and confidentiality of program participants and shelter residents accessing advocacy services Reduces isolation by reconnecting program participants with natural support systemsProvides transportation relating to advocacy or case management needs to program participants accessing program servicesPlans and presents community education for public awareness on domestic violence and other related crime victimization issuesPlans and facilitates groups to increase knowledge of the impact of domestic violence, self-care, regaining control, and promoting healing in a culturally-sensitive mannerDevelops and maintains participant referral resources for the provision of community information and referralsParticipates in a multi-system or interagency approach to increase responses or needs for victims of domestic violenceRequired to be on-call depending on program needsAdheres to licensure regulations, contract compliances, and program requirementsRecords Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) meal counts and serves meals according to guidelines and to ensure CACFP program operational and administrative complianceMay drive agency or personal vehicle on company businessMINIMUM REQUIREMENTSSuitable work experience may be considered as transferable skills in order to meet minimum requirements of the position and will be considered by the Executive Director of Human Resources.Bachelor Degree in human services or related field; or two years of relevant experience1 year of case management experience1 year of experience working with the dynamics of domestic violenceAbility to obtain health care certificates, including: CPR, First Aid, and Food Handlers' Certificate (employer paid)Proven strong communication skills - oral and written are clear, concise, and in an organized fashion using appropriate style, grammar and toneAbility to effectively facilitate individual and group sessionsAbility to develop and maintain effective working relationships with other staff, officials, community organizations, government agencies, and the general publicAbility to stoop, climb, bend, and reachRequired to lift 35 pounds 15% of the timeREGULATORYMust be at least 18 years of ageValid driver license, proof of insurance, and 39-month motor vehicle reportAbility to obtain and maintain Arizona Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card and FBI National Criminal Records History Report (employer paid)Pass pre-employment drug screen (incudes marijuana, regardless of recreational use laws) (employer paid)TB screening (employer paid)DESIRED QUALIFICATIONSMaster Degree in human services or related fieldBilingual in English and Spanish, verbal and writtenAdditional years of directly-related experienceThe above statement reflects the general duties considered necessary to describe the principal functions of the job as identified and shall not be considered a detailed description of all work requirements that may be inherent in the job.We are an Affirmative Action Equal Opportunity Employer for all individuals.
