Position Overview
A healthcare organization is seeking an experienced Nurse Supervisor (Assistant Director of Nursing) to oversee clinical operations and drive quality improvement initiatives within a Medical-Surgical (Med/Surg) environment. This role focuses on enhancing patient care outcomes, supporting nursing staff performance, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and organizational standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, develop, and implement programs to improve patient care quality and nursing performance
- Supervise daily nursing operations and provide leadership to clinical staff
- Monitor patient care outcomes and evaluate quality indicators
- Collaborate with Nurse Managers to assess unit performance and identify improvement opportunities
- Develop and execute corrective action plans for operational and clinical issues
- Establish and maintain systems for documenting:
- Medication errors
- Employee counseling
- Performance improvement initiatives
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, regulatory requirements, and nursing standards
- Promote patient safety and continuous quality improvement initiatives
- Support staff development through coaching, mentoring, and performance management
- Participate in departmental planning and quality improvement programs
Required QualificationsEducation
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited program
- Minimum 7 years of nursing experience
- At least 5 years in a supervisory or leadership role
- Required experience in Medical-Surgical (Med/Surg) nursing
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) License
- Primary source verification through New York State Department of Education (NYSED)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
