Tax Staff - Public
Job Description
My client is looking for a detail-oriented tax specialist to join their public accounting team, supporting a portfolio that includes real estate entities, pass-through businesses, and high-net-worth individuals. This position emphasizes technical review, tax planning, and client-facing advisory work rather than high-volume preparation tasks. The role offers close collaboration with firm leadership and a strong opportunity to expand into greater client ownership and long-term career progression.
Responsibilities:
• Review federal and multistate tax filings for individuals, partnerships, and S corporations, identifying issues and resolving them before final partner approval.
• Analyze real estate and pass-through tax matters, including allocation calculations, basis maintenance, and depreciation treatment.
• Contribute to planning strategies and advisory recommendations for property investors and high-net-worth clients.
• Partner directly with firm leadership to support complex engagements and strengthen overall client service delivery.
• Build trusted relationships with clients by responding to questions, clarifying tax matters, and providing thoughtful guidance.
• Evaluate tax workpapers and supporting documentation to improve accuracy, completeness, and compliance across engagements.
• Assist with more advanced tax matters involving multistate reporting and specialized real estate considerations when needed.
• 3 to 6 years of tax experience within a public accounting environment.• Hands-on experience with partnership, S corporation, and individual income tax matters.
• Knowledge of real estate taxation, including pass-through structures and related compliance considerations.
• Familiarity with tax preparation and review tools, with CCH Axcess experience preferred.
• CPA designation or active progress toward certification is preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with clients and internal leadership.
• Demonstrated interest in growth, receptiveness to feedback, and willingness to take on increasing responsibility.
